In this episode Father discusses the mystery and necessity of the Cross, emphasizing that Christ’s disciples must renounce themselves, accept the crosses God permits, and follow Him to Calvary; the Cross is presented as the means of salvation, a source of grace, a weapon against spiritual enemies, and the path to conformity with Christ. The episode calls listeners to stop fleeing from suffering, embrace their crosses with patience and love, cultivate humility, prayer, mental prayer, and dependence upon divine grace, and seek the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, particularly through the Seven Sorrows devotion and its associated promises. Let us learn the wisdom of the Cross, ask for the grace to carry it faithfully, unite our sufferings to Christ, and persevere in prayer and penance so that we may remain faithful and attain heaven.
The Promises made to those who have devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows:
- I will grant peace to their families.
- They will be enlightened about the divine Mysteries.
- I will console them in their pains and will accompany them in their work.
- I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.
- I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.
- I will visibly help them at the moment of their death — they will see the face of their mother.
- I have obtained this grace from my divine Son: that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and sorrows will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy.
The Seven Sorrows of Our Lady:
- The Prophecy of Simeon.
- Flight into Egypt.
- The loss of the child Jesus in the temple.
- Mary meets Jesus on the way to Calvary.
- Mary stands at the foot of the Cross.
- Our Lady received the body of Jesus from the Cross.
- Mary places the body of Jesus in the tomb.
